Dick-George, Tenn-Tom - movie blog

In 1971, President Richard M. Nixon visited Mobile, AL for 104 minutes, during which time he shook 100 feet of hands, lost a cufflink, and shared a stage with his biggest political rival, Governor George Wallace. "Dick-George, Tenn-Tom" is a sardonic look at their rivalry, the creation of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, and the attempt on Wallace's life less than a year later.

"Dick-George, Tenn-Tom" is our second film together. We are currently in the middle of editing our third short, writing our fourth, and arranging for the production of our first feature.

Production

Although it started life as a mockumentary experiment, “Dick-George, Tenn-Tom“ quickly became a sincere, albeit cynical, mapping of the brief meeting of two men and the joining of two rivers. Once again, the truth was stranger than the fiction as the narrative timeline branched out to all sorts of unusual historical tributaries. Produced entirely from photographs and sounds used with permission and/or existing within the public domain, this eleven-and-a-half minute documentary was made for a budget of zero dollars and zero cents.
